R'CONNECT: Network For Good
October 15, 2014
“Professionals know that networking for their career is an important matter, and we want to provide an opportunity for professionals and leaders to network with changemakers so that they can find ways to give back their time and skills.”
— Resonate co-founder, Jennifer Bishop
Every first week of the month is an exciting one for Resonate! We host our R’Connect meet ups, which essentially is a networking opportunity for you as a skilled individual (collaborator), and for those keen to get their socially purposed organisations (SPOs) recognised.
Not sure what are SPOs? SPOs are organisations driven by social purposes, such as the non-for-profit sectors and social enterprises.
Earlier this month, the team at Resonate launched our pilot R’Connect event, titled ‘Network for Good’. It was held on the 2nd October at Alfred and Constance in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.
At our ‘Network for Good’ event, representatives of SPOs were given a green lanyard, and collaborators a white lanyard, to distinguish them. We also introduced the matchmaking concept of ‘Offer’ and ‘Ask’. Collaborators would write the skills they can ‘Offer’, while representatives from SPOs would write the skills they are looking for as ‘Ask’. We were very excited to see the activity well received by everyone, which had facilitated with the connections made on the night.
We were also privileged enough to have 8 outstanding SPOs join us for the night. Each guest representative shared their project and listed their ‘Ask’, giving the audience a chance to know how their skills might be useful. Presenting on the night in order were:
Kylie Lowe – Joining Hands
Amanda Reed – The Roundabout
Caleb Connor – Impact Youth Social Enterprise
Johan Kortenhorst – Milaana
Kat Long – Kijani Seeds
Tamba Thomas – M-YES: Multicultural Youth Empowerment Strategy
David A – The Red Cross
Jose Adrian Gabriel Camancho – The Impact Academy
We would like to extend our gratitude to these SPOs for supporting our pilot R’Connect event. Thank you!
If you happen to be at the event as a collaborator, we would like to thank you for taking time out to connect with your local community. We hope that you had taken something valuable with you while you were at the event, and made connections with some of the most brilliant projects in Brisbane.
We will be uploading all photos taken on the night onto our Facebook page so you share them with your friends!
If you wish to join us for our monthly R’Connect meet-ups, we are now on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, andLinked In for your convenience! If you are a representative of your SPO and wish to share your projects with the local community at our events, kindly send us an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) and we will get back to you as quickly as possible.
